Good Father
I believe Troy is a good father even though he is very narrow minded. Troy's past experience with baseball leads him to believe that cory wont have any future in football and hell never get reckognized because of his color. Troy just wants the best for his son and thinks he should work and make money to support himself instead of persue a sport just like troy did and go nowhere.

I think Troy is a good father because he doesn't have bad intentions. He truely does want what's best for his son, but he may not be approaching the situation in the right way. Since his past with baseball didn't workout with him, he doesn't want to watch his son go through the same thing with football. This causes Troy to push his son to get a job and put money before sports. However, I don't think him being so closeminded is giving his son a clear understanding. Instead I think Troy's attitude is making his son feel like he shouldn't chase his dreams and do what he wants to do in life.
