What prevents Troy from being a "good" father? Do his childhood or young adult experiences inspire any understanding or sympathy from you? EXPLAIN/DEFEND your position.
Troy is prevented from being a good father because of all his childhood experiences that he had faced. Troy never had know real parenthood figures, his father would abuse him and his mother left him as a small baby. Also, Troy never had the benefit of following his dream to become a professional player and felt that all the time he played ball was simply a waste of time which he could have spent working. Now Troy does not want his son to pursue his dreams in fear of his past mistakes and does not trust his son enough to take care of himself. Troy may not be a great father, but he only wants what he thinks is best of his son, a well paying career.
Even though Troy is unfair towards Cory I think he is still a good father. However, he should stop ruining any chances that Cory has at playing football. I feel that the experiences Troy went through when he was younger affects his mind set now because he know's that his kids have it better than he had it and he wants them to appreciate what they have. He feels they should respect him and what he says. Troy could be slightly jealous of Cory's chance at football and doesn't like Lyons going to play his music because he wants them to not make a mistake and to be able to provide for themselves.
